Born and raised in Baltimore, MD; Keenen Geter is a 26 year old young man who is serious about the need to help his city of Baltimore overcome, achieve, and succeed.

Keenen attended the historic Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, where he first showed his leadership skills. In 2013 Keenen graduated from the University of Baltimore with a Bachelors of Arts in Jurisprudence. At the University of Baltimore, he was actively involved in the Student Government Association where he served as Member-At-Large, Sophomore Representative, and Vice President for Student Affairs. Keenen was acknowledged for his achievements in the classroom where he made the Dean’s List in the Yale Gordon College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Baltimore. In 2015 graduated with his Master Degree in Public Administration from the University of Baltimore.

In addition to his curricular and extra-curricular successes, he served two years as Legislative Assistant for Delegate Shawn Tarrant in Annapolis during the General Assembly in 2012 and 2013. During the summer of 2013, Keenen worked as a Mayoral Fellow for Mayor Stephanie Rawlings- Blake at Baltimore City Hall. Keenen also served as a White House Intern, working at the White House for President Barack Obama. During that same time Keenen worked as an Assistant Community Director at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. In 2014 Keenen eventually became a Constituent Services Representative in Washington DC for US Senator Barbara Mikulski. Summer 2015 Keenen accepted a position working for Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby, where he served as a Community Coordinator. In November 2016 Keenen was named as one of Baltimore leaders to serve on Mayor Catherine Pugh’s Administration Transition Committee. Keenen currently works for Mayor Pugh as Youth Engagement Specialist, within the Mayor’s Office of Human Services.

Keenen is the Founder and Director of Young Men with POWER, which is a community organization helping middle and high school aged males in the Baltimore metropolitan area with leadership skills, higher education readiness, and community service.

Keenen currently serves as Vice President of Programming for the Young Democrats of Maryland. December 2014 Keenen was appointed and sworn in as a member of the Baltimore City Democratic State Central Committee representing the 40th Legislative District in Baltimore City. In 2015 Keenen was recognized by The Daily Record as one of Maryland’s Top 20 in Their Twenties.

Keenen is a member of the historic Pennsylvania Avenue A.M.E. Zion Church where he is a member of the Steward Board and serves a board member for Zion Development Corporation. Keenen is also a board member for the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) Baltimore.
